Base Exclusion and Warehouse fixes

@Tom Servo we just arrived in Fort Wayne I see some of your turf haha. Also we drove through Gary Indiana and I feel bad it is so run down.
-
Also I hope we can be friendly I'm going to build a few turf here.

Yes dammit! They should leave warehouse stacking as it was. People wanted a travel feature. That was it. To take it away now after we have used it isn't fair to the players that didn't use it. Period. If you are going to take away the ability to stack, then you should also remove any bases created using that ability.
I didn't know you could do this.
Can I get a refund on all the gas money I spent doing it the
politically correct way?
Hmmm? Maybe there's something to this. Maybe Nick has recent investments in Exxon or something to influence this decision. -
Just wanted to put my two cents in... When I started building" hop turf" I was thrilled to find a 13 mile radius, but then started to hear about this exploit.... I never thought of it as anything else... When you've played games as long as some of us you know there are people out there who constantly do nothing but look for "glitches" and then "exploit" them. It's nothing new, so I avoided using it.. When you have to do things in a certain way to achieve that radius of 200 miles you should have known it wasn't meant to be...... Just my opinion of course.

Warehouse issue or not, I'm more interested how people can appear in 3, 4 even 5 countries, each turf seperated by many more miles than a couple of 200 mile hops, in one day. Spoofing is a bigger issue than this if you ask me.

This thread has seriously got too far.
But I am curious of why nick has removed the extra upgrades yet though...

I have 1 turf with 5 blast walls. I got a message last night about taking the upgrades in excess of 2 but "0" were taken; all 5 still there. Sounds like an exploit to me 😉😜

I think the excessive GPS spoofing complaints did more to alert the devs to the 'exploit'
I think they should leave it in.... Make part of the game now... Since we all know!
-
Easy solution - fix the app then if possible (which I imagine it is) ROLL BACK the servers to before exploit started to appear.

That's easy - refunded the tib gotten since but the map would return to the condition prior to players taking a shit on it. In the long and short run, the players who didn't exploit benefit much more doing this than whether bases they've built in last week/few weeks.whitey bulger wrote:

Hey everyone,
We're getting ready to rollback the Warehouse issue this weekend. To clarify, there was a bug in the details of how the Warehouse limit of 2 was enforced by the game. Anyone trying to build over this amount by purchasing more than 2 Warehouses or building 1 at a time would get an error message. Until recently it was possible to work around this by adding Warehouses in a specific pattern, and while some players may have done this unexpectedly, others decided to use it to build bases hundreds of miles away instead. The fact that several beta testers were among the worst exploiters of the limit (which was added halfway through the beta) is evidence that not every case was an unfortunate accident.
-
Our solution to this issue will be as follows:
- remove all upgrades from the bases with more than 2 Warehouses and return them and their resources to the base's owner. The owner can then decide what upgrades to add back to the base after this.
- All bases that were created more than 17.8km from another base (the maximum creation distance for a base with 2 Warehouses), and which was only possible by using this exploit, will be destroyed, as well as any bases created from them (and still belonging to the creator). All upgrades and Resources will be returned to the owner. If you captured one of these bases from the original owner, you can keep it.
- Any Tiberium used to hurry upgrades on these bases will not be credited, though you may keep the New Territory Tiberium bonus you got from building these bases. -
This solution is targeted in a way to minimize the effect on the those who may have hit the bug unexpectedly, and roll back the gains of the worst exploiters. I realize that not everyone will be happy with this solution, but imperfect as it is, I believe it's the best solution going forward. We can't fully walk back the game clock and precisely undo every consequence resulting from the exploiting of this bug. Quite frankly the simpler solution would have been to reset everyone who built bases across multiple states and countries, but I believe that would be an overkill.
Thanks to everyone for your patience while we work on a solution to this, and please accept our apologies if you were negatively affected by this issue.
-
Hmm. What about $ spent for creating bases, will that also be returned? Can't say I like this solution but I appreciate the effort to make it as fair as possible.
-
Mmmhmmn. Mhhhm. Mmmhmmmhmm
-
This solution was great in my opinion because this makes things like it never happened. If you were aiming for that, phenomenal job. It deletes turfs made by long hops like you never had the super bases. For non-hop superbases, it just removes your upgrades and gives them back(like you never used them) and gives your resources back(like you never used them).
-
This sounds quite reasonable to me if there is no desire to leave the feature in effect. It of course doesn't take into account all the bases that we have created within 17 miles of a base that was created using the super bases but like nick said, how far can you roll things back? I'm a little miffed that I won't get the tib back that I spent hurrying some bases but what can I do?

Not to mention I'm about to lose 120 bases lol

Wow. To call out particular players with the your betas were the one that exploited the most is like breaking your own GD TOS. Pretty lame IMO. Everything else I could have gone along with. Maybe next go-round hire a professional QA staff instead of letting your players spend money finding YOUR problems and don't rush to market.

Hey cut them some slack. They are in a difficult and frankly unsolvable position. I'm losing bases and $$$ too. The only way to do this without negatively affecting people would have been to leave the feature in place but if they do that they are letting the inmates run the asylum. I wasn't a beta tester and I'm not in love with this solution but I think they have made the best possible move taking their long term objectives into account. I say we should do what we can with the bases that we will have left and move on.Wow. That IMO could have and should have been left out. Pointing fingers publicly at players that reap none of the rewards is not very savvy.

It's pretty obvious you didn't like it dirt lol

I have to agre. I was not a beta, but not usually Nicks style. Wouldn't take it to personal though, think he just meant he thought you guys would report this as an "issue"..
