Base Exclusion and Warehouse fixes
Forums › General Discussion › Base Exclusion and Warehouse fixes-
Hey everyone,
We’ve recently become aware of two serious gameplay issues that require a prompt remedy.Up to now it’s been possible to equip a base with several Blast Walls to increase its exclusion zone to an extremely large value. This was an oversight on our part – having a single player block out a large portion of a city with a single base is not conducive to other players’ ability to build in that area. To fix, we’ve capped the maximum number of Blast Walls upgrades to 2 per base, as of this post. We may also reduce the effect from a 100% bonus to something lower in the near future (actual amount TBD). Bases that are currently equipping more than 2 Blast Walls will have the excess removed and returned to the owner tomorrow.
-
Also, it's come to our attention that some players have found a way to work around the 2 Warehouse per base limit. This is an exploit, and has been patched as of this posting. Bases with more than 2 Warehouses will have the excess removed tomorrow, and any upgrades beyond the 8 slot limit will also be removed.
-
Players whose bases will be affected by these changes will be notified tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for your patience while we resolve these issues.

I'm sure they will. He's giving you back your Blast Walls. Why not your Warehouses?

What's with the 100 notifications for one thing?????
I keep getting the same notification again and again n again -

Why on earth would people speed them up? I just build them at like 5PM and they are ready by the time I get up. Not really that bad.
But, yes, I see why that would be absolutely ridiculous.--False

It only becomes an exploit once named as one.. Before that it was simply a part of the game.Ⓖ☣ⓜⓐⓢⓣⓔⓡ wrote:

There's no way they're going to refund the tib, you didn't have to fast track the build. I do think the warehouses and any removed upgrades should be returned like the blast walls though▪False▪ wrote:

Your missing the point. Although players chose to pay to speed up upgrades, they did not grant Nick permission to take away those upgrades.
There has been no foul play and no hacking, the developers made an error and as such any player could and still can benefit from this error until tomorrow.
No player will be banned and anyone who loses upgrades should have there tib returned to them.
Given the money some of these players spend on this game, I seriously doubt whether the developers want to upset the players that line their pockets, so I doubt it's no skin off their back to refund the tib!

As far as I know it was part of the game. Did a base had a define limit of upgrades? As long as you could add upgrades it was part of the game designed as far as we knew. If it is now dimmed an exploit I have no issues with that but they should leave the bases planted alone, as it was aloud by the game design. And a lot of RL money was used by certain players thinking it was part of the game play.
-
Hmmm. I just checked the Help file and I don't see any maximum listed. Like Maverick said it just seemed to be part of normal game play bought and paid for. To take away after this long certainly does not seem to be ethically sound. Adjusting the game going forward does seem the more sensible and correct approach IMO.
-
It's pointless to change it really. A couple of c4 charges and those blast walls come down like any other upgrade.
-
JD, I think most of the "change" is in regards to the warehouse issue. I''ll be saying nothing on the subject in regards to my opinion but watching closely. This is the kind of situation a service company should hate to be in, exactly how many more players can you withstand upsetting with a change to a product that is already getting considerable black eyes?

Right. And warehouse issue is what allows people to hop 25 miles at a time. Take that away and you are going alienate the customers even more. The game never said you couldn't do it. It never prevented you from doing it and the help files never said you couldn't either. It's just a normal game feature from my pov.JD, I think most of the "change" is in regards to the warehouse issue. This is hosed. I'll get a couple of blast walls back. Big deal. but now I have 20 bases built under a big exclusion zone that I would not have built and upgraded but for this game feature abruptly and randomly labeled an "exploit." Not to mention the two days of waiting for the freaking build to complete. Disappointing to say the least.
-
I say leave the warehouses and upgrades alone. Just make it part of the game. Then u won't have worry about airports in the future

Seems I misspoke. I never tried stacking more than three warehouses but it seems you could stack up to 6 thus allowing over a 200 mile hop. That is how people were spreading out all over the country planting bases in all the major cities. Now that they have bases planted everywhere, nick will remove that ability from the rest of you. Thanks Nick!

I too reviewed the help section, particularly the explanation of "Slots" in the Glossary. It states that the default number of slots is 4 and that warehouses may be used to increase the number of slots. Nothing is said about 8 maximum
My loses will be slight. Regardless, I used resources to build the disputed upgrades, now have deleted those upgrades and used Tib. to expedite some of the builds now at issue. No one suffered or was disadvantaged from my adding more than 8 slots to a few turfs. I did nothing wrong; yet, I am out resources, upgrades and Tib.
Players, like me, who used warehouses to increase the number of slots on a base breached neither the terms, nor the spirit of the rules of the game. If the devs. decide to change the rules now, we who played according to the rules as they previously existed should not be penalized. To the contrary, we should suffer no lose in terms of resources, Tib. and upgrades for how we pursued our game.👎

What I fail to understand is why it's a problem given the latest upgrade? Extra Tiberium to build in new areas. How the heck can you build in new areas with the new change that's being suggested. The additional vehicle depots also lended to the game heavily geared towards moving around on the map. This all just seems so contradictory and needs a lot of thought. Not just a quick change. Wouldn't want to be in the developers shoes at all right now.

"We have recently become aware that some players have figured out how to have a little fun with this game. Fun is an un intended feature and thus an exploit. All fun will be removed effective this update, and all players who had fun will be returned to a state of no fun. Their enjoyment will be promptly removed. Thank you to those players who report these outbreaks of fun; we are working around the clock to make sure no additional fun finds its way into gameplay." --The Chairman

And they take away the ability to hop AFTER larger players like havoc, etc. have used that very ability to plant bases all over the world. So none of you can make those enormous hops anymore but they all get to keep the bases they built using that feature. Except it isn't a feature. It is labeled a exploit. That makes it even worse. Those that "exploited" the game get to keep it. Wow.What I fail to understand is why it's a problem given the latest upgrade? Extra Tiberium to build in new areas.
