Handheld Gaming

Some of you guys spending tons of money on phone apps should invest in a playstation or some other hand held gaming device. Pay a 1 time fee for a game and play it as much as you want. And guess what? It's actually COMPETITVE. I have a feeling some of u really big spenders just play this to flex your financial ego. #financialego. Lol You might ask why I care talking about any of this? It's because phone apps were actually cool the first few months of the Smart Phone. Then this wonderful trend was started..... Give me more money and I'll give you more power to win a game! It's like trying to pay off the banker in Monopoly with real cash to get more Monopoly money or extra hotels to put on your property. That would just ruin the game... No different than these apps. It's fraud in my own opinion and you fools that spend 5, 10, or 100 times the amount that you could spend on a console or pc game just encourages the trend of "Buy your infinite power here".

Step right on up! You're getting fooled as bad as the basketball game at a carnival.

I'm entertained that's all that matters I could be blowing it on more stupid things than tib

  • Widowmaker

And just FYI, I'm referring to the ones that have spent hundreds. I'm going to guess u have the same I'm this game as I do. Around $40 or less.

In my opinion they should spend their money on whatever pleases them. At least you get to play this game for free then decide whether to spend. You don't get that on consoles.

Spent nothing. Suppose it's done to entertainment value. If you enjoy it then you will spend. I spend money on fishing equipment. Some may agree and say that fishing is fantastic. Others won't see the point and say its a waste of money. BUT, to me it's a hobby. Something i enjoy. And if people stood on the bank and shouted 'fishing is shit'! It would only make me angry. It certainly wouldn't make me sell my stuff and join them. No point trying to change people's views. If people spend and enjoy it then fine. I have seen people fish with only a rod and reel and catch more than me. Skill beat money...

The monopoly metaphor is actually quite accurate in my opinion; money spent on this game is lost and will never be seen again. I might as well buy some shares with it instead.

This. If they choose to spend, that's their problem. If you don't choose to spend, then you'll just grow slower.

Another whiner getting upset cos people spend money on a game! Already have a PS3, Xbox, PC, pretty much every gadget under the sun, perks of running my own business.

I spend money on this game, got nothing to do with boosting my financial ego, it's cos if I don't have anything to do on this game, I have to put the phone down and have sex with the mrs, and right now GS is more fun!

  • ☠♔PRYMUS♔☠

Yeah but now all gaming sucks. You got that thing where you continue to add on to games even after you buy them

  • Treybo130

I've spent zero on this game. Learned my lesson in TW. I make around $35 hr and have spent dozens of hours on this game and forum. That being the case, I could have spent a $1000 and achieved in minutes where I am after 2 months. I'll just Keep Calm and Tap On.

  • 🔹aოɳɛʑ🔹

If these games were free, they wouldn't exist.

  • ⅉⅇⅆⅈ ཫཬསབϯའཪངƙऽ

Do you work for Nintendo America?
I have hand held gaming devices. And I feel much better giving money to independent game developers than to corporate fat cats making billions by mass-producing products costing them almost nothing (made by underpaid workers overseas), and then turn around and sell you games for +$29.99. Not to mention the countless other ways they make money (licensing deals, accessories, etc).

Why would you even consider individuals "flexing financial egos" on an intangible product? It's simply a matter of having disposable income. This is a game, not a car collection.

Your concern over other peoples discretionary spending is pathetic.
Don't worry about how I spend my dollars.

It must be great to be able to decide what's good for a person and what's not. Can you show the proper way to think on other subjects such as global warming and absorption?

  • DirtyJerms

I know I've stuck a lot more crumpled up dollar bills in a lot worse places then an app!

I mostly agree, thats why i will never spend any money on this game. Although some people want to be more than an average player so they spend money on it. It supports the developer. I dont think spending money should damn you to play the game sub-par but it should give you a slight advantage

Many people played Turf Wars for 2-3 years... Name a video game your not sick of after a few months

Call of duty. Assassins creed. Mario brothers. Smash bros. fuck the list goes on. Turf wars doesn't match any of those games. Addicting yea but as good as a console game no. I've played text based games better then turf wars. Turf wars a GS are genius in theory but both have fallen short on playability.

Lol. Oh hell no you didn't!!! 😳😳😳

Lol..... The entire reason for the post is not telling someone what they should spend their money on but to realize how apps these days are banking on the ones who do and ruins the game for the ones who doesn't. Obviously spend your money on whatever makes you happy. My complaint is the direction apps have taken.

The Monopoly example is EXACTLY my point.

A limit of 100 or 200 dollars would of been good. But I don't blame nick for wanting to make money

  • ▪False▪

The only game that has ever held my attention for more than a few months (Online) is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Uncharted was fun, for around five hours.
I have a habit of crushing games just for the right to say I beat it on the highest difficulty. Then I never play it again. *Cough* Last of Us *Cough*.

Nobody can blame any of these app creators for making money. It's just sad the way they do. But money is and will always be tempting and that's why people will do anything to make that extra buck. In my own opinion, this game is not worth what I've already paid, which is $40. It's nice for ppl that just want an app to open up and press a cpl of buttons but for me, this game is and can be so much more than just playing words with friends or punching a bunny. The game isn't worth what others have spent and because what others have spent, the game is t worth it for me. Abadeep badeep badeep..... That's all folks!

    Widow OUT!

For what it's worth Widow, I actually agree. The moneygrab has gotten a bit overboard but it is only partially the devs fault. If people weren't willing to kick out hard earned cash for the extra scan or to hurry the base the option wouldn't be there. As for how MUCH power you can buy, that has gotten a bit over the top as well. What you are not factoring in though is that games like this are being updated and added to (well, maybe not TW anymore, but that is another story) continuously. If you want the new Madden players for '13, shell out another 59.99 cuz they aren't updating '12 anymore. They all get you in the end.
