What is something special you grew you with or around and is not their anymore?
For me is the whole space coast. Not just the Kennedy space center.
For those that live in the area, you would know the space coast was an amazing tourist spot. There was always a lot of people (espically on launch days, when I would get on my roof and watch the space shuttle go off). Or even this one time I was actually their. You can't describe whats it like seeing it up close and personal. It's an amazing experenice and feel bad for those that haven't experienced it. But sense they shut down the program, the whole space coast is dead. It's a ghost town almost. Only attraction they have is the beach. And it's very sad. I remember as a kid seeing the shuttle going off. Now its just mostly private or military rockets that u can hardly see go off. -
Even if they do bring it back it will never be the same.
This was the perfect place to do space launches. And now they are just selling the land around it, only keeping a small portion, just for military purposes. They even started a whole project on 1-95 of adding lanes and making them nicer along the space coast because of how crowded it gets. Now its all pointless because the whole area is dead. -
Whatever my kids will get to see... it won't be and never will be what I got to experience.

I've always wanted to see it up close . I bet it was amazing to get a chance to witness that.

You can feel the ground shaking even from a mile away. You can clearly see it 50miles away. It was just that bright and powerful.I've always wanted to see it up close . I bet it was amazing to get a chance to witness that.

The King Kong, and Jaws rides at universal studios, Orlando.
When i was a kid my family used to go to Orlando alot. King Kong was my favorite ride. Then one time i went to ride it, and poof! It was gone. Then after a decade or so of recovering from that loss, i go to Orlando with my friend last spring break. We got up early and we were totally psyched to ride jaws first! After a half hour of wondering around looking for it, my friend asked a employ where it was. He told her it, rather matter of fact like, that it was gone. This was my face. 😫

Our next thought was to go ride the new transformer ride we had passed earlier. So we walked all the way back to the front of the park and guess what?
IT WASNT OPERATIONAL YET.
This was my face.
😐Im never going back there again. I mean how is terminator 2 in 3-D still there, and jaws isnt?!?
Oh i also lost my sunglasses on the new red roller coaster, so even that sucked.

I miss the stop lights on the 101 freeway at and near State Street in Santa Barbara, CA. It was where the hitchhikers gathered to thumb rides. For me, it was so cool being in a car heading northbound and stopping at the last signal. Those seeking rides were off to the right, across the intersection.
The vast array of humanity was incredible. Old, young, male and female. Every flavor in the picnic basket was there with a thumb out.
We never picked up a rider and I never stood there myself. Still, when I think back to those days it is my fondest memory.
The roadway was reconfigured in the late '70s (as I recall) and the stop lights eliminated. So much for progress.👎
🔥STAL🔥, thanks for this thread. Nice concept.👍

Cheetos - I grew up with them in the UK but then they disappeared from the shelves. Now you can only get proper Cheetos in the US. This makes me sad, but also excited when I go to America.

Elevator operators. When u was a kid you pressed a doorbell to call the elevator. We'd play doorbell ditch and watch the operators get pissed.

Being able to go to the store with ten dollars and come home with a trash bag full of candy. I'm only 16. That was when I was like 6. I can't imagine what people back in the 80's and shit could have gotten.
Son of Beast. It was a wooden roller coaster. Only one to my knowledge that had a loop! It was a marvel. Took forever to build it. Thousands of man hours. And only took a small amount of explosives and it all went down in a moment.

Was scared as hell though the first time I was on it. Lol
But I noticed they got rid of it recently. -

They made the Jaws ride into something else. But I forgot. I was more of a Disney person growing up anyways.💚Ⴚгɘɘɲʍɑɳ💚 wrote:

Now I'm bored with all the parks. Only Epcot I can stand.
