What does that icon mean that pops up every once in a while?

  It looks like a google map locater - sometimes it's red and sometimes green.

  I believe that means it's looking for your current location. If it's red it means it can't tell.

  Green means it has your current location. Red it mean it hasn't found it so you can't use your current location features

  And if it turns purple, the nsa probably has a lock on you and are coming to get ya :)

  NSA only tracks those they wish to date.
