  I'm totally new to this game and I would appreciate if someone could help me out on what I should do first. And also, how do you expand where you can build your base? Because I can only build bases within 50 metres of where I started and nowhere else

  upgrading your base allows you to expand your build radius.

  Go to the map
  Select the turf you want to increase
  Scroll down to the very botom and hit build upgrades
  Select up to 4 upgrades. The upgrades with +5inf, or +10inf, etc will make your base larger. The other upgrades serve other functions.
  Note the time and resources required to build.
  Select "build"

  Don't forget to scan... It's where you get the resources required to build, and the upgrades your building :)
